DTG Presents' goal is to nurture original music scenes in Westchester,
Rockland, Putnam and Dutches counties creating a vibrant community of
musicians, venues and music lovers.
The recordings on the DTG Presents CD, Local Live Original,
Vol I CD represent some of the best original music that this area has to offer.
By no means is this the only original music
around, on the contrary,
the Hudson Valley has
some of the most creative people both musically
and artistically that I have ever come across. From the subtle style of singer
songwriters to the intricacy of jazz and hard hitting
groove of funk rock,
this area has it all.
Finding great original music in our area has always been hard. Clubs that book live bands always book either cover bands, tribute bands or generic blues bands that play all the hits that everyone already knows. For the clubs these bands are "safe".
They pose no threat or worries because club owners know that this music is familiar and the people who come out to their establishment will be entertained long enough to buy a couple of rounds of drinks. To me, a working musician, this is completely acceptable.
People do want to hear music that they know. It is what makes popular music popular. My point is that many people want to hear something new and fresh, Music that is original.
For many artists who play original music, the stage is limited to NYC's Greenwich Village and the Lower East Side. For the Hudson Valley artists and their fan base this trip is long and expensive, but they do the drive to play their songs to people who love to share a moment of originality. Help us and these artists bring this creative force back to Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutches counties. Please take the time to download any or all of the music that this site has to offer.
